OH BOO HOO. So ANET is making it possible to get inherant mods now so it's easier for everyone to build a good weapon, what's the harm in that? So prices are no longer ridiculously priced, boo fricken hoo.

If you're playing GW just as an economical game and upset over this, go play that Tycoon game instead.

Actually my "argument" as you call it was far from ignorant, nor was it even an argument for that matter, it was a direct correlation of facts:
You = Want free items for doing nothing
Me = Want free faction for doing nothing
Why should your desires be more relevant then mine?

And for the record I have no problem with Theus' opinion, my issue is with his immature need to insult me by turning my name from Oofus to Doofus, perhaps you missed the point, try actually reading before you comment.

And by the way, non of the items I have came from farming, I got tired of farming and never getting anything worth a damn so I took my pitiful few hundred gold and invested it in an item, sold that item for a profit and bought 2 more items which I then turned over for a profit. Eventually I had enough money to buy myself a nice weapon to keep for myself and still keep my trading going…..and so on and so on. No luck, just pure capitalism my friend.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong.....it is not about the look and the color AT ALL, it is about the RARITY of the item. This is what a lot of you do not seem to understand and I don't think a lot of you understand the definition of the word "rare". If perfect Serpent Axes dropped all the time nobody would collect them and they would be worth as much as a 20k perfect Shortsword.

To those against this: Please, calm down? It's understandable that you're frustrated, but don't go blowing any arteries. >_>;; It's not worth the emotional strife.

To those for it: Quit antagonizing those that don't like this change! You're making it worse! >_<

Can't we all just get along? [/cliche]

so? whats your point? I fail to get it...

Also, some ppl forget that this is a game, and that some ppl wanna have fun, without busting their ass for ours on farming getting nothing but air, and with out buying and selling and buying and selling. If this game had truely unique items (such as in blizzard gamesfor example), than farming would have a true meaning. But farming to get that nice glowing chaos axe or that wicked looking dwarven axe just for looks (and yes, even on these forums most ppl say it comes down to vanity) - is just not worth it imho (you can leave the armors and fow armor the way they are).
And lets think about this further shall we? Lets say that this really does happen. So what? so ppl will sell clean white items for lotsa gold. And what has changed? Nothing. Were back at square one. If this does happen, the market wont collapse, it wont crash or anything. I have full confident that some "smart" fellas will come up with a way to rob ppl.

This game is about skill right?

Sorry Ninetail, Im doing my best

ummm look up the word “commission” in the dictionary and get back to me. When you work on commission, it is exactly “some months you’re lucky and some months you’re not”. Sales or Treasure hunting (people actually do make a living doing that) are commission/finders based job so your statement that "real world work is not some months your'e lucky and some months your'e not" is bogus.

I see, so you can’t have fun playing GW unless you have a 15^50 Crystaline? ? ? You can’t have fun playing GW with a 15^50 Longsword? ? ?

meehh I'm done with this topic now. Those who get it get it, and those who don't get it likely never will. And regardless of what any of us want, ANet will do as they please.

If you can gather that much gold to piss away on flashy armor then how dare you complain about the price of weapons. If you feel like you got ripped off when you bought a weapon then it’s probably because you did, try paying attention and don’t pay 200k for a req 8 15^50 Great Axe. If you do buy it for 200k then don’t blame the market, blame yourself because that axe can be bought for 15k easily. The appeal of rare weapon isn’t that they cost a fortune, it’s that they are RARE and hard to get, they cost a fortune BECAUSE they are RARE, the only reason YOU want them and complain about not having them is because they are RARE. Take away that rarity and what’s the point of having it? Yea I know….”they look nice” Lots of weapons that don’t cost a fortune look nice, buy those.
I'll put it simply:
If someone chooses to buy FoW armor, they're buying it without YOUR control of the market for it. If they decide to save up that 1million gold, and it takes them 6 months to do it, they can just as soon buy it then, or buy it later, without YOU dictating the cost of it, based on your control of the market and it's 'oh-so-special' rare skins. This makes armor a viable purchase to those who want the feeling of satisfaction of accomplishment, without having, shall I say, a greedy market to compete with. This is a game, it is supposed to be fun, and ever since Guild Wars began, there has never been a reason to pay that kind of money for an item, as they all operate in the same capacity. This kind of change won't make you 1million gold in a month on one item, dear. It will make you 1million gold in a month on many many items, if you're witty enough to change your selling tactics. Now, instead of taking 50 chest runs to get one "perfect" item, you can take a few, and achieve the same result, just remember your prices are going to be a fraction of what you're used to. In the end, you're still making much more than the average person. I think for this to work in favor for all, they'll have to adjust the white/blue/purple/gold damage levels, so that a white version of the weapon never achieves maximum damage, and then it scales upward, and purple would be 1 point shy of maximum. Gold would always be maximum damage. This would keep the heirarchy of colored weapons in place, and retain some 'rarity' among weapons. Can we compromise now?

Trading and collecting rare things is very very satisfying to some of us. It has never been a must in Guild Wars to get perfect golden items because there are collector & green items to replace them.
The thing is, I didn't say that trading wasn't a part of the game. After all, they have a trade channel, so it's inherently part of the game. I trade all the time. Even 'power-trading' is perfectly fine with me. None of that was my main point.

My point is, this is only going to affect those power-traders. And by affect, I mean, it's going to slow down the mass wealth power-traders make on a regular basis. Not stop, but slow down. The rich get richer, this is always the case. Inscriptions will only slow down that process.

If trading is "very very satisfying" to you, inscriptions will certainly not hinder your fun in the least. Not sure why anyone would even remotely think that. Again, I ask: What about this will ruin anyone's fun?

>>For the record: I'm comfortably wealthy myself. By comfortably, I mean I have no desire to hold onto 100's of plat. Since I got the game 8 months ago, I've acquired 100's of plat, surely, but spent most of it. I'm not jealous in the least simply because I have no desire to acquire it. I don't need a Crystalline or a Dwarven Axe. I do, however, seek out skins that I like, despite rarity. I have plenty of money to buy the skins and armors I like, and that is comfortable to me.

Inari, you absolutely and completely wrong about this. Clean white items are plentiful. No one in their right mind would spend a ton of money on a clean white item, before or after this change. There is simply no reason to do so when they can simply walk into an area, kill a creature, and BAM, have that low requirement max damage weapon with no mods for free.

Well, I for once didnt have that big of a luck myself. Of all the times I played through fow (for example), I got maybe 3 max dmg req8-9 clean white chaos axes (just an example). And I think there are more that shame the same fate.

So, if this 15^50 mods will be available to transfer between weapons as mods, than why wouldnt it be possible? And lets leave the "lotsa money" part about that for now, and just say that they would actually be worth something?

Ooufus, do try to lower yourself to my level and explain to me what I didnt seem to get. If you cant explain, than I will assume it had no point, if you dont mind.

I'm sorry this is not a flame but a simple fact, you're stupid.

Your argument is that chosing inherent mods is comparable to getting free factions - it hardly takes a genious to figure out that's just nonsense.

And please don't accuse me of wanting free items, I never said anything remotely like that. I farm and do chest runs, nothing will change in that regard for me.
